We, here at Crossroads Insurance, are committed to being environmentally responsible by adopting a green office policy. Our endeavors and dedication is focused on reducing consumption of natural resources. Having implemented an extensive initiative of energy saving in our office, we are sure of making steady yet remarkable progress in our efforts.
Our green policy integrates environment friendly standards and practices to make the most of every opportunity we get to do our bit towards saving the environment.
Lighting- Our offices will be equipped with energy efficient equipment to save energy in the best possible manner. This has already been done at one of our offices and is scheduled to be done at the other office during renovation. However, necessities will never be compromised, yet an extra attention will be given to energy saving practices. For instance, lights are advised to be switched off if they are not in use for more than 15 minutes.
Energy Saving with Computers: Our green office policy sets forth a guideline for computers usage at our offices – the employee should shut down the machine before leaving office. All Autopac computers can be turned off at the time of closing but should not be shut down before closure of office as it may affect MPI Ricoh transmissions. All computers must be set to go in standby mode once left idle for more than 15 minutes. All equipment that runs of energy should have an ‘energy saver’ mark on it.
Smart Printing: Printing should be targeted at saving paper and energy wherever and whenever possible. For instance, if feasible, a paper can be printed on both the sides and can even be printed using draft mode. This will not only save extra ink, but will be a helpful tool in saving papers. Practically, using less paper is a great step towards keeping our environment safe and saving money at the same time.
Further, there are certain documents whose soft copy can be encouraged to use. Whether it’s a quote, an invoice, a simple report or anything else similar, it can also be sent using electronic mails. Printing certain notices, reports and statements are not necessary and they can be avoided from being printed. We encourage our employees to use scrap papers for rough notes or for any other similar purposes.
It’s wise going paperless: Printing unnecessary documents results in nothing but heaps of papers. A number of documents like emails, memos, reports are not required to be printed. The majority of faxing work can be done using emails only, hence we encourage the use of emails within our organization. There are certain reports which are sent to customers or clients in paper, that might be sent using electronic mails. We even encourage our customers to send us paperless documents.
Recycling: We have always encouraged recycling of various materials including papers. Each of our offices will separately determine the staff responsible for recycling products. Such products can even be donated to responsible dealers.
Improving on office habits: We are sure that on successful implementation of the Green Office Policy, we will be saving a lot of energy. We encourage our employees to use office mugs instead of disposable cups and glasses. The use of tissue paper can be discouraged by making towels available at wash basins. Further, even a hand blower dryer will be installed in washrooms to avoid the use of tissue papers.
We are still devising even more such ways whereby we can do our bit for the environment. Our efforts are dedicated to saving energy in our offices. We are planning to make our Green Office Policy even more extensive in the future.
