FAQs

Q: How can I make sure I’m prepared in the case of a loss?
A:

Take photos or video of the contents of your home, receipts for big ticket items and your insurance policy and store them off-site or in a fire-safe box or container. Keep receipts of big ticket items, and keep important papers like your insurance policy in a fire safe as well. Feel free to download this handy home inventory document provided by the Insurance Bureau of Canada.

Q: What should I do in the event of a loss?
A:

Depending on the nature of the claim, ensure that you, your family and your pets are safe. Once you are safe, contact the appropriate parties to report the claim. If a crime is committed always contact the police, if you experienced or are experiencing smoke or fire damage contact the fire department.

If it is safe to do so, take any reasonable measures to secure the property and prevent further loss. Do not replace items or fix damage (except for emergency repairs) until an adjuster has been out to assess the situation. Doing so may affect the outcome of the claim.

Contact your broker or insurance company to report the claim as soon as possible. An insurance adjuster will be in contact shortly.

Crossroads Insurance has been monitoring and assessing developments with COVID-19. The health and safety of our customers and staff is our priority. COVID-19 cases continue to escalate in Winnipeg and Manitoba. As a result, Crossroads Insurance’s response continues to evolve as developments change. In the best interests of our employees and our customers, as well as their health and safety, effective Monday November 16th, 2020, our offices will be closed to the public. We will be scheduling appointments for transactions that are required to be done in person.

Although our physical offices are closed to the public, as an essential service, Crossroads Insurance remains open for business. We want to assure that we are still here to serve you. Crossroads Insurance can handle the majority of your MPI Services/Autopac, Home, Business, and Life insurance needs over the phone, by email, or online.

There may be rare occasions where you need to visit one of our offices in person. In light of social distancing recommendations, we will limit customer numbers in our offices for the comfort and safety of our Insurance Advisors. To limit the number of people in our offices, we will be dealing with these situations on an appointment only basis. Any in person appointments need to be prearranged and verified. We have taken additional precautions to keep our offices safe, including protective shields, extensive cleaning and sanitizing.

We are confident there will be little impact on our service capabilities and responsiveness as a result of these changes. There may be times when our team members are dealing with increased call volumes. Please be patient during this time.
